What to Expect During Your Breast Lift Surgery Consultation
One thing many patients don’t realize is how important this discussion is. We’ll ask you things like:
“Why now?” and “What changes are you looking for?” Perhaps you’ve felt your breasts sag after pregnancy or weight loss, or you simply want a firmer, elevated breast position.
Whether you want just a lift, or are considering combining it with augmentation (implants) or reduction. A lift alone reshapes and repositions the breast—it does not increase volume.
Your timeline and future plans—are you still planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding? These can affect both method and timing.
Realistic expectations. We’ll go over what a breast lift can achieve and what it cannot—this is key to long-term satisfaction.
Some patients come in with very clear ideas; others feel unsure and just want to "look better." Either way, we help translate feelings into a surgical vision. We often reference previous cases or simulations to show what different degrees of lift can look like. The more you communicate with us, the more precisely we can align your vision with surgical possibilities.
Past medical conditions: diabetes, thyroid issues, or chronic illnesses that affect healing
Previous surgeries, especially breast surgeries, biopsies, or mammograms
Medications, supplements, smoking or alcohol use
Family history of breast disease or breast cancer
Even medications like aspirin or herbal supplements can increase surgical risk. It’s important to be honest and thorough. We also discuss your current weight stability and overall lifestyle. If you’re actively losing weight, it may be best to postpone until your weight is stable for better long-term results.
This review isn’t about exclusion—it’s about safety. We take your health seriously, and by identifying any risk factors early, we tailor anesthesia plans, surgical technique, and recovery guidelines specifically for you.
This is the time when the "art" and "science" intersect. We’ll perform a hands-on evaluation of your breasts and surrounding anatomy:
Assess breast size, shape, skin quality (elasticity, laxity), amount of sag (ptosis), nipple/areola position
Measure key landmarks: nipple height, breast crease, volume, and symmetry
Take clinical photographs (strictly for your medical record)
We often explain what level of "ptosis" you have: mild (nipple at or slightly below the breast fold), moderate (nipple below the fold), or severe (nipple pointing downward or below the lower contour). Each level requires a different surgical strategy.
Once we understand your goals and anatomy, we’ll walk you through your surgical options. Key topics include:
Peri-areolar (donut) for mild lift
Vertical (lollipop) for moderate sag
Anchor (inverted T) for significant sagging or excess skin
We explain how incisions are planned to preserve sensation and blood flow while minimizing visible scars. Our goal is always to balance aesthetic gain with the smallest scar necessary.
Preparation is as important as the surgery itself. During the consultation, we’ll help you plan each stage:
Pre-operative lab tests, mammograms (if age-appropriate), or specialist clearance if needed
Smoking cessation, nutritional guidance, and medication management
Timing: when is the best window for surgery considering work, family, and recovery
We’ll also discuss logistical details: arranging a caregiver for the first 24–48 hours, preparing your recovery space, and timeframes for return to work and exercise. On average, patients return to light activities in 1–2 weeks and full activity in 4–6 weeks.
We go over all aftercare instructions in detail: scar care, support garments, showering rules, and how to monitor for swelling or healing changes. We’ll also schedule your post-op visits well in advance, so you feel fully supported.
You deserve to feel informed, not just hopeful. Some questions we suggest:
Are you board-certified in plastic surgery? How many breast lifts have you performed?
Can I see before & after photos of patients similar to me?
What type of incision do you recommend and why?
Will I be able to breastfeed after the procedure?
What will my scars look like in 6 months? 1 year?
How do you handle complications or revisions?
Remember, the best consultations are two-way dialogues. We welcome your questions, concerns, and even doubts—they help us customize your care.
After the consultation:
We’ll provide a personalized surgical plan, including cost breakdown and recovery expectations
You’ll have time to reflect before scheduling—no pressure
Once ready, we’ll confirm your surgery date, give you a detailed checklist, and begin your preparation journey
We also encourage patients to book a follow-up call or second consultation if new questions arise. This is your body and your decision. We’re here as your guides, not salespeople.
Many think the "fun part" is surgery day. But truthfully, the consultation is where the transformation begins. It’s where surgical precision meets aesthetic harmony. Where we learn your story and anatomy, and you gain the knowledge and confidence to take the next step.
We’re not just a clinic. We’re a destination for patients who want both artistry and medical integrity in their cosmetic journey. Whether you’re seeking a lift, a combined procedure, or revision work, you’ll be cared for with precision, empathy, and expertise.
Ready when you are—to learn more, ask questions, or begin your personalized plan.
